TAUS Data offers a free and publicly accessible Search in the entire language data repository for terms and phrases. The database is getting more than a half million searches each month.
TAUS Data works on the basis of reciprocity. Members and non-members can take data if they also give data. The system automatically keeps track of the ratio of uploads and downloads of data. Non-members have a ratio of 1 on 1: if they upload 1 million words they get a credit to download up to 1 million words. Members get a ratio of 1 on 5: if members upload 1 million words, they get a credit to download up to 5 million words.
Non-replication of data
TAUS filters out and does not count replicate data based on full matches of source level segments with a threshold of 15% in upload batches.
Data quality control
Members agree to submit quality, post-edited, human validated data to the data repository. TAUS keeps the right to archive data and block new uploads of data if bad quality of data has repeatedly been reported from specific contributors
Organizations that are not able to share and upload data with TAUS Data have the option to buy credits for downloading data. Members get 50% discount on the rates for buying credits.
